Esthela & Jacob: A Maximalist, Elevated Celebration in DTLA

share

Esthela and Jacob’s love story feels like one of those timeless romances—you know the kind, where it’s never “hello,” because somehow it’s always felt like you’ve known each other forever. The two met at the very start of their college years and, despite a brief period of long distance, the connection never wavered. Fast forward to June, and Jacob popped the question in Mexico, Esthela’s hometown, setting the stage for a wedding that would honor their roots while celebrating their bold, contemporary style.

Their wedding was rooted in a love of music, specifically Bad Bunny’s hit song “Monaco.” That track became the soundtrack of the day, setting the tone for an elevated Mexican theme that was equal parts classy, playful, and unforgettable. For Esthela and Jacob, every detail was a reflection of who they are as a couple—from their choice of the historic Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles to the curated flatlay details that felt editorial yet personal.

The couple approached their wedding with a clear vision: sophisticated, yet candid, with moments that truly captured their personalities. As fans of The Office, they wanted more than just standard posed photos—they wanted to create a documentary-style wedding film, complete with candid interviews with their guests, echoing the show’s humor and intimacy. For the couple, we were an easy choice because, as Esthela put it “you guys are fun. We want fun, that’s who we are, and we want to see that again and again”.

Before the wedding day, Esthela and Jacob celebrated their engagement with a session that felt just as intentional and stylish as their big day. Wanting something artsy and elevated, they chose the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena as their backdrop, surrounded by timeless architecture and iconic works of art. The shoot perfectly reflected their love for creativity and storytelling, blending candid moments with editorial edge. Afterward, they shifted into a more relaxed vibe, heading to a chic lounge in Pasadena for cocktails. It was the perfect balance of sophistication and intimacy, giving a glimpse into the couple’s unique vision and the energy they would later bring to their Vibiana wedding.

On the wedding day, Esthela prepared in the bridal suite at the Vibiana, surrounded by soft morning light and meticulous details, while Jacob got ready just down the street at the DoubleTree. Their separate preparations added a sense of anticipation to the day, culminating in a Catholic ceremony that was classic, reverent, and deeply meaningful. But the reception? That was where Esthela and Jacob’s playful maximalism truly shone.

Guests were transported into a world that fused elevated editorial design with bold, personal touches. Pearls and clear-cut accents complemented the luxe Vibiana space, while vibrant Mexican-inspired elements added warmth and personality. A highlight? The bride’s dress change later in the evening, ushering in a new, fun chapter of the celebration. And because this was truly a reflection of the couple, a unique merch shop emerged, complete with a snack wall of customized McDonald’s Happy Meals featuring their faces—blurring the line between high-concept design and quirky, joyful fun.

Music and energy were central to the night. DJ Daniel Jamezzz kept the dance floor alive, blending beats that honored the couple’s love for contemporary Latin music while keeping everyone grooving late into the evening. Flowers from Mi Moda Está de Moda by Leo created lush, textural arrangements, and Elis Cakes Decor21 delivered a wedding cake that was as visually stunning as it was delicious. Every element—from catering by Vibiana Events to hair and makeup by Beauty MD Luxury—was carefully orchestrated by @xoxowedding, ensuring that the day ran seamlessly without losing any of its personal flair.

The reception also incorporated the couple’s desire for unique storytelling. During dinner, guests participated in Office-style interviews, giving the wedding film a playful, cinematic layer that is rarely seen in traditional celebrations. The result was a film that feels both polished and alive, capturing the energy, emotion, and quirks that define Esthela and Jacob’s relationship.

By the end of the night, it was clear that this wasn’t just a wedding—it was a fully realized world, curated by a couple who knows exactly what they love and how to celebrate it. From the historic elegance of the Vibiana to the playful, maximalist details, every moment felt intentional, memorable, and unapologetically them.
